Helping Ireland choose better jackets

Jackets.ie is an independent resource for anyone in Ireland choosing a jacket. We explain what matters, in plain language, so you can buy with confidence.

Why Jackets.ie exists

Buying a jacket should be simple. In practice it rarely is. Labels are full of ratings and fabric names, sizing changes from one brand to the next, and plenty of jackets that look ready for anything turn out to be fine for a dry afternoon and little else.

Ireland makes the choice harder. Our weather is mild, damp, windy and changeable, often within the same hour. A coat designed for a cold, dry continental winter can be too warm on the bus and still let the rain in. A fashion jacket can look the part and be soaked through by the time you reach the office. Most advice online is written for other climates.

Jackets.ie exists to close that gap. Our guides explain jacket styles, materials, fit and performance with Irish conditions in mind, so you can work out what you actually need before you spend your money.

What you'll find here

Independent by design

We don't make or sell jackets, and no brand or retailer pays to appear in our guides. Our aim is to help you understand your options and make a good decision, even when that decision is to keep wearing the jacket you already own.

We are also careful about what we claim. We don't publish product tests we haven't done, invent expert quotes or present guesses as facts. Where we give technical figures, such as waterproof ratings, they are standard industry rules of thumb and we say so.Read how we work.

What comes next

Jackets.ie is an evolving resource. We plan to add jacket listings from approved retailers, current prices, side-by-side comparisons and recommendations based on what you need. These features will arrive only when they can be done properly, using authorised retailer data rather than copied images or made-up prices.

How we'll make money

Today, Jackets.ie earns nothing from the jackets it writes about. In future we may earn a commission when you buy through a link to a retailer, at no extra cost to you. That will never decide what we recommend, and we'll always make it clear.Read our affiliate disclosure.
